Oct 16, 2018 · I've had 4 Xiaomi phones that I've used on T-Mobile--MI Note 3, MI A1, MI Mix 2 and MI Mix 2S and WiFi calling worked on none of them including the MI A1 which ran stock Android instead of MIUI. But MI A1 owners who ran LOS did report that WiFi calling worked on their phones. @timbuk2okc The first and for a loooong time the ONLY phone allowed to have wifi calling on ATT, with FCC approval was the iPhone 6, which came out 6 months after the HTC one M8. It didn't come to android for another 16 months with the galaxy line and the Marshmallow update. None of HTC phones were on the list to get Wifi calling. If you live in an area with a weak cell signal or the building you live in is blocking the cell signal from getting inside, then Wi-Fi calling is a great choice. Wi-Fi calling is easy to set up and it works with most cell phones. Use a T-Mobile Personal Cellspot. Another great option for your home is a T-Mobile Personal Cellspot. However, it appears that Vz will not allow unlocked BYOD phones to use their Wi-Fi Calling feature (unlike T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T). after many hours of troubleshooting on the phone & web with both tier 1 & 2 support at VZ & Moto the only answer that I get is that it should work but each company blames the other for the issue.
My 640 which I got from T-Mobile, rarely every uses Wi-Fi for calls and when it does I can't text off of it. I remember on previous lumias it said wifi calling and all the signal bars were filled. This guy shows the wifi bars and a tiny phone next to it, very rarely though.

The official word from T-mobile is they cannot provide Wifi calling on non t-mobile android phones. It is not that ATT has software blocking it. It is that T-mobile would have to install it’s own software on the phone to allow Wifi calling.
